The World Customs Organization was founded on January 26, 1953 and is headquartered in Brussels. It represents 187 customs administrations covering more than 98 percent of international trade, and its work includes developing international conventions, instruments, and tools on commodity classification, customs valuation, rules of origin, revenue collection, supply chain security, trade facilitation, and enforcement against smuggling and counterfeiting; it maintains the Harmonized System goods nomenclature and administers technical aspects of World Trade Organization agreements.
