Economics Atlas
The rules for using this site.
Economics Atlas is part of the Interactive Atlas family, operated by an individual; contact details are on the contact page. By using the site you accept these terms.
Using the Site
Read it, quote it with attribution, link to it. Do not scrape it, break it, or pretend to be somebody else.
What you may do. Read every public page, search it, follow its links, save entries to a reading list, quote it reasonably with attribution, and link to it from anywhere.
What you may not do. Copy the dataset wholesale or systematically. Run automated collection against the site other than a well-behaved search engine crawler obeying our robots file. Circumvent any access control. Interfere with the service. Impersonate another person. Use the site for anything unlawful.
What Economics Atlas Is, and What It Does Not Claim
A reference work, written with care and marked openly where it is uncertain.
SCHOOLS of economic thought lead: schools, economists, concepts, institutions and events. Causation disputes are the field's character, and where economists genuinely disagree about why something happened, the atlas states the disagreement plainly rather than picking a side. Describing something is not endorsing it. Entries carry their sources, and where scholarship disagrees, or where nobody has an answer at all, the entry says so instead of choosing for you. A reference work of this size contains mistakes; if something is wrong, tell us.
Nothing on this site is medical, legal, financial or other professional advice, and must not be used as a substitute for it. Consult a qualified professional for decisions about your health, your money or your legal position.
Your Account
One person, one account. You can delete it yourself.
Keep your password to yourself; you are responsible for what happens under your account. You can delete your account at any time from its Security page; deletion takes effect immediately and, for 30 days, can be restored by emailing us from the account's own address.
Forum and Comments
You own what you post. You are responsible for it. We can remove it.
Post nothing unlawful, defamatory, harassing, hateful, threatening or infringing of someone else's copyright. Posts and comments may be edited, hidden or removed at the operator's discretion. By posting you grant this atlas a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to store, display and distribute your post as part of the site, only as far as running the site requires.
Community Conduct
Question any idea. Respect every person. Three strikes closes an account, or fewer for the worst conduct.
You are welcome to disagree with, question or criticise any idea on this site. Targeted ridicule of a person, harassment, threats, impersonation and discriminatory abuse are not allowed. A confirmed violation normally earns one documented strike; a third active strike closes the account. Strikes expire twelve months after they are issued. Severe misconduct may mean immediate suspension with no prior strike.
Availability and Changes to the Site
It is one person's site. It will sometimes be down, and it will keep changing.
The site is provided as it is and as it happens to be available. Pages, features and entries may be added, changed or withdrawn without notice.
Ownership and Copyright
The atlas, its written entries, code and design, belongs to Economics Atlas and its licensors. You may read it, quote it reasonably with attribution, and link to it. You may not copy the dataset wholesale, scrape it, or republish it as your own.
Liability
The site is provided as it is. We do not promise that it will always be available or that it is free of errors. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss. Nothing here excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.
Age
You must be at least 18 to create an account or to post in the forum. If we learn that an account belongs to someone under the minimum age we will close it and delete the data.
Governing Law and Disputes
These terms are governed by the law of the operator's place of business. If you are a consumer resident somewhere else, this does not take away the protection of the mandatory consumer law of the country you live in. Before anything formal, please write to us.
Changes to These Terms
These terms may change; the date at the top will say when. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the current version.
