Secretariat of Finance and Public Credit (Mexico)

Mexico's Secretariat of Finance and Public Credit, known as the SHCP, is the federal department responsible for guiding and managing the country's public finances, with the office of its head dating to the formation of the Mexican state on September 28, 1821, one of the original four secretariats of state, and the secretariat acquiring its current name in 1891. Its responsibilities include implementing the National Development Plan, the federal expenditure budget and tax revenue law, shaping fiscal legislation, managing the federal government's public debt, coordinating and overseeing the public and private banking system, and regulating insurance, bonds, securities and credit.
