South Korea's Ministry of Economy and Finance is the government agency responsible for overseeing the nation's financial and economic policy, headquartered at the Government Complex in Sejong City. Its current form traces to a February 29, 2008 reorganization following decades of institutional change beginning with a separate Ministry of Finance created in 1948, later merged with the Economic Planning Board in 1994; the ministry sets mid- to long-term economic policy, allocates and assesses the national budget, plans tax policy, manages the treasury and national debt, and publishes a monthly economic report known as the Green Book.
