The Kiel Institute for the World Economy, known as IfW Kiel, is an independent nonprofit economic research institute in Kiel, Germany, founded in 1914 and a member of the Leibniz Association. It houses the German National Library of Economics, the world's largest specialist library for economics and the social sciences with access to more than four million publications, employs roughly 160 people including more than eighty economists, and has been described by German media as the country's most influential economic think tank.
