De Nederlandsche Bank is the national central bank of the Netherlands within the Eurosystem, founded on 25 March 1814 by King William I and today organized as a state-owned public limited company headquartered in Amsterdam. Many of its historic responsibilities, including monetary policy, passed to the European Central Bank when the euro was introduced in 1999, but the bank continues to manage the Netherlands' official foreign reserves, conduct foreign-exchange operations, collect economic statistics, and act as the country's national competent authority for financial supervision within European Banking Supervision.
