CRISIL Limited, formerly Credit Rating Information Services of India Limited, is a credit rating and analytics company headquartered in Andheri, Mumbai, incorporated on January 29, 1987 as India's first credit rating agency, introduced the following year by ICICI and UTI with capital from SBI, LIC and United India Insurance Company. S&P Global acquired a majority stake in April 2005 and remains the parent company with a 66 percent holding, while CRISIL itself continues to trade publicly on the BSE and NSE and, as of March 2022, ranked as India's largest ratings company with a market capitalization of about 23,429 crore rupees.
