The Central Reserve Bank of Peru was founded on March 9, 1922 and is headquartered in Lima. Its constitutional purpose is to preserve monetary stability, which it pursues by regulating the currency and credit of the financial system, administering the country's international reserves, issuing banknotes and coins, and reporting regularly on national finances, maintaining an inflation target of 2.0 percent with a tolerance of one percentage point in either direction.
