Robert Solow (1924-2023) was an American economist at MIT. He developed the Solow-Swan model of long-run economic growth, showing that technological progress, not capital accumulation alone, drives sustained per-capita growth. He won the 1987 Nobel Memorial Prize in Economic Sciences for this work.
