Eugen von Boehm-Bawerk (1851-1914) was an Austrian economist and statesman, a principal founder of the Austrian School alongside Carl Menger. He developed the theory of roundaboutness, arguing that more time-intensive, capital-intensive production processes are more productive, and built an influential theory of interest and capital. He served three times as Austrian finance minister and mentored later Austrian economists including Ludwig von Mises.
